SUNDAY

Amazing fact of the day:

Longest Piano Pieces ever Written

Opus Clavicembalisticum- Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji (4.5 hours)

The History of Photography in Sound
- Michael Finnissy (5.5 hours)

The Road - Frederic Rzewski (10 hours)

Beatus Vir - Jacob Mashak (11 hours)

Keep in mind these pieces are non-repetitive. The last two have never been played in one sitting by a single person.

Hi, Jacob Mashak here. I was doing some random self-centered googling, and was surprised to find my name mentioned somewhere outside of my website. Thanks putting my name in print (and reading wikipedia!). I just want to let you know that Beatus Vir has been performed in its entirety, continuously, and with just the right number of pianists. Unlike the others on the list, mine is in fact for two pianos (not a solo piece) and was designed with alternating solo and duet movements to make it feasible to have three pianists performing at the two pianos, and have no interruption in the performance as a whole.
Anyway, thank you for posting about me!
